We always see a temple or any religious place in terms of spirituality and religiosity. It is not just that, if seen in a traveller’s perspective you can find interesting aspects about the place. Here are some beach facing temples that are picturesque and holy sites in South India.
Thiruvananthapuram (or Trivandrum) is the capital of the southern Indian state of Kerala. It’s distinguished by its British colonial architecture and many art galleries. It’s also home to Kuthira Malika (or Puthen Malika) Palace, adorned with carved horses and displaying collections related to the Travancore royal family, whose regional capital was here from the 18th–20th centuries. Varkala is a town in the south Indian state of Kerala. It’s on the Arabian Sea and known for Varkala Beach, backed by palm-covered red cliffs. Just south, Papanasam Beach is believed to have holy waters. On a nearby hill, the ancient Janardanaswamy Temple is a Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Vishnu.
Kanyakumari is a coastal town in the state of Tamil Nadu on India’s southern tip. Jutting into the Laccadive Sea, the town was known as Cape Comorin during British rule and is popular for watching sunrise and sunset over the ocean.

After breakfast visit Padmanabhaswamy temple (also known as Anantha Padmanabhaswamy temple). Other famous temples in Trivandrum include the Attukal Bhagawati temple, the Aazhimala Siva Temple, the Karikkakom Chamundi Devi Temple, and the Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple. The city is home to a few museums, such as the Kuthiramalika Palace Museum and the Napier Museum. Also can visit Padmanathapuram Palace, Padmanathapuram Museum. Overnight at Trivandrum.
Varkala. Varkala is a famous beach for its natural springs which are said to have medicinal qualities. The 2000-year-old Janardhanaswamy Temple along with the Sivagiri Mutt attract a steady stream of visitors all year long. Enjoy the day at leisure. Overnight in Varkala.
After breakfast visit Jatayu earth centre which which is around 50 Min drive from Varkala. Jatayu Earth Center, also known as Jatayu Nature Park or Jatayu Rock, is a park and tourism centre at Chadayamangalam in Kollam district of Kerala. It stands at an altitude of 350m above the mean sea level. Jatayu Nature Park holds the distinction of having the world’s largest bird sculpture, which is of Jatayu. Post breakfast checkout and proceed to Kanyakumari. It is also known as Cape Comorin, Kumari and Kumari Munai. This is a ‘rocky mainland‘ on the Indian Ocean in the State of Tamil Nadu and located at the Southern most tip of the Indian Subcontinent. Many call it KOODAL meaning it is situated at the Confluence of three oceans Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. Kanyakumari is popular because it is the only place on earth, where you can see the Sun Rise and Sun Set from the ocean. It is the only place in India where one can enjoy the unique spectacle of Sunset and Moonrise simultaneously on full moon days. The main tourist spot to visit are Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Thiruvalluvar Statue and Kanyakumari Temple. Overnight in Kanyakumari.

Known for Ramanathaswamy Temple, a Hindu pilgrimage site with ornate corridors, huge sculpted pillars and sacred water tanks. Devotees bathe in the waters of Agni Theertham, off the beach east of the temple. Overnight in Rameswaram.
After breakfast visit, Ramanathaswamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Rama. This is one of the seven places in India where pilgrims pray for salvation. The place is unique with 22 holy springs and the longest corridor in India. Another famous temple, five-faced Hanuman Temple. The temple also has a floating stone outside the temple exhibiting the famous stories from the Great Indian spic, Ramayana. Overnight in Rameswaram.
Post breakfast checkout and proceed for Madurai. Another famous temple town and silk saree centre. Visit Meenakshi Temple and Thirumalaai Nayak Palace. Explore the city and overnight in Madurai.
After breakfast checkout and get transferred to the airport for the return flight.
