Visiting Bomdila in winter would be a feast to your eyes as apple orchards will be at their optimum best in production. The name Tawang (Tibetan: རྟ་དབང་, Wylie: Rta-dbang) means "horse chosen". It is said to be the biggest Buddhist monastery in the world outside of Lhasa, Tibet. It is a major holy site for Tibetan Buddhists as it was the birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama. An incredible architectural feat in the beautiful state of Arunachal Pradesh, Dirang Dzong also known as the Dirang Fort is a 17th-century citadel that was built to protect Bomdila from invasions. It was also used as a prison during the ill-famed Vietnam War and a refuge during the World War.


Day 01 Arrival Guwahati Airport (GAU) / Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) – Bhalukpong

Bhalukpong (700 Ft / 213 Mts, 250Kms / 05 to 06 Hrs drive approx) Arrive Guwahati Airport (GAU) / Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) / Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) and then drive approx to Bhalukpong. Upon reaching, check-in to the Hotel. Overnight at Bhalukpong. Note: 1. Guest is requested to book early arrival flight.

Day 02 Bhalukpong – Dirang

Dirang (5120 Ft / 1560 Mts, 160Kms / 06 to 07 Hrs drive approx) Today after breakfast drive to Dirang, enroute at Tipi visit Orchid Center and enroute visit Sessa Orchid Sanctuary (Blooming time is from end March till May). Check into the hotel. Overnight at Dirang.

Day 03 Dirang – Tawang

Tawang (10000 Ft / 3048 Mts, 160 Kms / 06 to 07 Hrs drive approx After breakfast, proceed to Tawang (140km) – the land of Monpa Tribes and major centre of the Mahayana Buddhists. On the way to Tawang lies the world’s second highest pass – Se la Pass(13700ft) which run through a small ridge & along a lake called Se la Lake. And visit Jaswantgarh - a memorial to the brave soldier who single handedly tried to hold of approaching Chinese during the 1962 Chinese aggression. Upon arrive check in to hotel. Over night at Tawang.

Day 04 Tawang - Local Monastery - Tawang

Tawang (10000 Ft / 3048 Mts) After breakfast, today visit Tawang Monastery - The Famous GadenNamgyalLhatse, popularly known as Tawang Monastery was founded by Merak Lama LodreGyatso in the year 1680-81. The monastery stands on the spur of a hill, about 10,000 feet above sea level and has ravines in the south and west, narrow ridge on the north and gradual slope on the east. It offers a commanding and picturesque view of the Tawang-chu valley. From a distance it appears like a fort as if guarding the votaries in the wide valley below. Tawang monastery is the largest of its kind in the country and is one of the largest t monasteries in Asia. Though it has the capacity for housing about seven hundred monks, the actual number of resident lamas (monks) at present is a little more than 450. This monastery is the fountain-head of the spiritual life of the people of this region. Also visit Urgelling Monastery - the birth place of Sixth Dalia Lama. After a late lunch and refreshment visit Tawang War Memorial and evening at leisure. Overnight at Tawang.

Day 05 Tawang – Bumla Pass, Madhuri (ShunGatser) Lake & PTSO Lake - Tawang

Tawang (10000 Ft / 3048 Mts) Today morning after early breakfast, you will drive to Bumla Pass which is located about 37 km away from Tawang at the Indo-China border over 15,200 ft above sea level. A further drive will take you to visit high altitude lake called as Shunga-tser Lake, popularly known as Madhuri Lake located 35, kms away from Tawang near the China Border. The drive to Shunga-tser Lake is full of thrill and one can still see the war bankers that had been used during the Chinese aggression in 1962. Nestled amidst the pristine mountains and picturesque surrounding, It was formed in the aftermath of the 1950 earthquake. Prior to the earthquake, this piece of land used to be employed as the grazing ground for the cattle. The evidence of it can be seen in the protruding trunks of the dead trees from the middle of the lake. The lake has been under supervision of Army men, who have also arranged for a cafeteria nearby. Tourists can relish on the delicious Momos, Maggis topped with a cup of tasty coffee or tea. Tourists can also take to trekking around the lake while enjoying the gentle lashes of the pleasant breeze around. During return take a photo stop at the beautiful PTSO lake en route (17 kms away from Tawang, Pangong Tang Tso Lake popularly known as PT Tso which is an extremely scenic drive with bird’s eye view of the township below). Later in the afternoon drive back to hotel. On the way back visit Ani Gompha. Rest of the evening at leisure. Overnight at hotel. Note 1. Our vehicles are not allowed to do PTSo lake, Madhuri lake & Bumla Pass Sightseeing. Local vehicle will be provided for the same. We have no control on this local vehicle which may be a combination of Non AC Tat Sumo/Xylo etc. 2. Day 06 Tawang - Local Sightseeing - Bomdila

Bomdila (7923 Ft / 2415 Mts, 180 Kms / 06 to 07 Hrs drive approx) After breakfast drive to Bomdila- the head quarter of West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh and also known for its Buddhist monasteries. It has a lot of attractions for the visitors for its cool climate. Upon arrival check in to the hotel. Later visit GontseRabgyaling Monastery (Upper Gonpa), Thub-ChogGatsel Ling Monastery (Lower Gonpa).Bomdila offers wonderfully panoramic view of Himalayan landscapes and snow clad ranges. Evening you can visit the local market. Overnight stay at Bomdila.

Day 07 Bomdila - Guwahati

Guwahati (1148 Ft / 350 Mts, 265 Kms / 07 to 08 Hrs drive approx) After breakfast check out and drive to Guwahati. Check in to hotel.

Day 08 Guwahati - Full Day Sightseeing

Full Day Sightseeing (Option 1)- Guwahati Guwahati (1148 Ft / 350 Mts) After breakfast visit KamakhyaTemple, Umananda Shiv Temple (Ferry Charge on direct payment) & Navegraha Temple. Afternoon visit SankardevKalakhetra & Pragjyotika Assam Emporium (Closed on Sunday).Later drive back to the hotel. Overnight at Guwahati. OR Guwahati - Full Day Sightseeing (Option 2)- Guwahati Guwahati (1148 Ft / 350 Mts) After breakfast visit Zoo cum Botanical Garden (Closed on Friday) & SankardevKalakhetra. OR Guwahati – Excursion to Sualkuchi – Guwahati Sualkuchi (100 Ft / 31Mts, 35 Kms / 01 to 01 ½ Hrs drive) After breakfast visit Kamakhya temple – (Timing 08:00 A.M till 01:00 P.M & 3:00 P.M till its gets dark). Later drive to Sualkuchi weavers' village along with visit to Greater Adjutant Stork &BastraUdyan. Sualkuchi village: Assam produces three unique varieties of silks, the Golden Muga, the White Pat and the warm Eri. Silks grown all over the state find their way to Sualkuchi. Sualkuchi is one of the world’s largest weaving villages. The entire population here is engaged in weaving exquisite silk fabrics. A renowned center of silk production, particularly known for Muga - the golden silk of Assam, which is not, produced anywhere else in the world. It is customary for an Assamese bride to wear a traditional set in paat silk during her wedding. One can distinctly hear the rhythm of the shuttles of the looms as soon as one enters this craft village. Sualkuchi, the biggest village of Assam, situated on the north bank of the mighty Brahmaputra. Overnight at Guwahati. Notes : 1.
